Assessment and Identity
“As I have grown up, tests and awards have always been a part of my life. Although I did well in school, and received awards, I did not feel that they were always deserved. I also never had much of an attachment to them. Not to mention, people began to recognize me from these awards. I was the person who received the * insert awards here *, not the kid who could talk to you about space for hours. In high school, this definition of myself through tests become more evident as standardized tests attempted to compare me to others, defining who I was.
This series investigates how I deal with identity and awards as well as academic success. Although I try to recognize myself as someone outside of the world of awards and tests, I often find myself struggling to see that there is more to me" - Kat Baron, 2016
